The Marxochime Hawaiian Tiple bears no resemblance to the traditional tiples, instead resembling a zither. It is played with a combination of plucking, strumming, and playing with a slide similar to a lap steel guitar. The Hawaiian Tiple was most likely named as such for marketing purposes, as interest in Hawaiian music and culture was high in mainland America during the period when the instrument was sold (the 1920s-1930s). This particular Hawaiian Tiple is almost 90 years old, but brand new (and never played) as it was purchased from left behind inventory in the Marxochime Colony warehouse in the mid"" 1990s, many years after the factory had actually closed. Measures 32" x 7". In excellent condition. From the collection of Ken McMeans. 20% of the proceeds will benefit the Jeremy Wilson Foundation.
