About the Artist - Allan James Cunnington

Allan was born in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England, and aside from six year of military service during World War II, he lived and worked in the city of Gloucester until he retired in 1981. He was a commercial artist at one of England's largest advertising firms and in his spare time, broadened his artistic skills to include drawings and paintings of British scenery and wildlife.

Following his retirement, Allan and his wife Nancy emigrated to Canada to join their son and his family. They settled in the village of Queenston near Niagara Falls. Here Allan found a warm welcome for his art in shows in the Niagara area, as well as further afield in Toronto and at the Buckhorn Wildlife Art Festival.

Allan continued to paint thorughout his long life, and paintings, drawings and prints of his drawings were foudn among his possessions after his passing. Although some of these have been donated for fund raising to St. Saviour's Anglican Church in Queenston, the Bruce Trail Conservancy, and other charitable organizations, more of Allan's art is still available to help raise funds for deserving causes.
