The Lisu tribal people inhabit the mountainous regions of Myanmar, Southwest China, and Thailand. After victory over the the Ming Dynasty in 1644 AD, most Lisu lived in villages high in the mountains or in mountain valleys. Lisu history is passed from one generation to the next in the form of song, which often takes a whole night to sing, and is accompanied by the playing of the Shibi Tree Lute. The Shibi is carved from indigenous trees and the sound hole is covered with snake or lizard skin. Measures 3.5" x 19.5". In remarkable condition for it's age. From the collection of Ken McMeans. 20% of the proceeds will benefit the Jeremy Wilson Foundation.
