Privately printed, Limited Edition, 1925. Illustrated with portrait frontispiece and photographs. Octavo (9 ¼ X 6 ¾ in., 235 X 172 mm). 102 pages. Dark blue cloth over black morocco spine ruled in gilt, front board lettered in gilt. Good. Spine leather cracked and brittle, joints cracked. Hinges are sound. Ink date notation on the verso of the front free endpaper. Signed and inscribed by the author and mother of Walter Schulze on the front flyleaf verso, “To Mrs. Arthur D. Wheeler, from ‘The Mother’ of ‘The Peace Messenger,’ Armistice Day 1925, Chicago.” Captain Walter Schulze was shot down on June 28, 1919, while delivering a special edition of The Amaroc News, The Daily Newspaper of the American Forces in Germany, announcing that the German delegates had signed the treaty of Versailles.
