CONRAD, Paul Francis. (1924-2010) American political cartoonist and winner of three Pulitzer Prizes for editorial cartooning. With a career spanning five decades and eleven U.S. presidents, Conrad is best known for his work as the chief editorial cartoonist for the Los Angeles Times, where he brought a more liberal editorial perspective. Conrad's work addressed the social justice issues of the day—poverty in America, movements for civil rights, the Vietnam War, the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, and corporate and political corruption. His criticism of president Richard Nixon during the Watergate scandal landed Conrad on Nixon's enemies list, which Conrad regarded as a badge of honor. Limited signed print (number 10 of 25), entitled "Ex-Presidents At Work," featuring caricatures of Nixon, Carter, Ford and Reagan. Signed by Paul Conrad in pencil at the lower right. Matted and framed, 16 x 19 in. In fine condition.
