Ziricote, Cast Glass, Acrylic Paint
16”H x 15"W x 4”D
Binh Pho often uses light colored woods as a blank canvas for his works of art, but occasionally uses an exotic wood for a particular effect. In this work, he utilized ziricote wood to express the dark period in his life while at the American Embassy during the Fall of Saigon – a night of waiting and hoping. Blue glass represents the sense of hope within him and the dream of freedom. In the left corner, a peacock feather reaches out to the last dragonfly – a dream ultimately unfulfilled.
