Andy Murray achieved a memorable milestone "major" victory with his Gold Medal win over Roger Federer at the 2012 London Olympics. Murray was the first British man since 1908 to win the Gold Medal in singles at the Olympics. To commemorate that achievement, the Royal Mail issued a first-class stamp in Murray's honor, which is on sale across the United Kingdom. In addition, the Royal Mail also painted a traditional red mailbox "gold" in Dunblane, Scotland, Murray's hometown. During the 2012 London Olympics, the Royal Mail was issuing stamps (the next day!) to honor each Gold Medal won by a British athlete.

Andy Murray is not the first tennis star to have a postage stamp issued in his home country. Roger Federer had a stamp issued in Switzerland, Ana Ivanovic had one in Serbia and the 2010 Davis Cup Champion Serbian team, which included Novak Djokovic, also was honored with a commemorative postage stamp. For both stamp collectors and tennis fans, these commemorative stamps are an exciting addition to their "collections".
